The Thugs in Our Woods!

Brambles, bracken and ivy are singled out as the most worrying species in our woodlands, in a research study conducted by scientists

Highlighting the threat posed by the thugs of the plant species, Matt Walker, editor of BBC Nature says that what’s surprising is that these green bullies are home-grown – and may even be considered quintessentially British.

As woodland guardians we’re acutely aware of what happens in un-managed woodland and our ongoing work focuses on the gradual return of our woodland cemeteries to native broadleaf species.

As you’ll see from the comments on Matt’s blog, woodland management can be a controversial topic.   And that’s one of the reasons we host occasional working woodland days, when everyone is welcome to come along and work alongside our woodland teams – to find out more about how we manage our woodlands.

No Regrets

How many of us will reach the end of our lives and be able to honestly say we have no regrets?

We came across this fascinating blog by Bronnie Ware, and thought it worth sharing.

Buried Alive!

Now, there’s a lot to be said for ‘try before you buy’ but you’d think most people would draw the line at a trial burial.

Not so it seems!

Take a look at this story on the BBC Website about a Russian man who died after persuading a friend to bury him alive, hoping it would bring him good luck…
