Death and funerals have been back in the headlines again – thanks to the scriptwriters of two of the country’s favourite ‘soaps’.
Following the highly controversial Eastenders ‘cot death’ story line earlier this month, heated debate continued when the folk of Ambridge found themselves in the midst of funeral planning.
In the Archers, one of the big talking points was whether or not the children should go to the funeral – a question that stimulated much thought-provoking debate on Woman’s Hour later.
Now, while many have applauded the script writers for tackling topics that are often taboo, the Eastenders writers were accused of going too far.
Generally speaking we welcome anything which gets people thinking – and talking – about death and funerals. But what do you think – did the scriptwriters do a good job?
