How sad we were to hear this week that TV personality Amanda Holden had lost the baby boy she was expecting – seven months into the pregnancy.

We know how devastating the loss of a baby or child can be and deeply hope that Amanda and her husband are allowed some privacy in order to deal with their bereavement.

Even though we deal with death every day, it’s heart-breaking to be involved in the funeral of a baby or child.  Just to witness the grief of bereaved parents touches all of us at the deepest level - it is one of the most difficult things for the staff to cope with.

Every year at each of our burial parks we hold special services of remembrance for lost babies and children, when we encourage people who have lost a child to come together – regardless of when or in what circumstances their loss occurred.

Tragic events such Amanda’s second miscarriage highlight how similar we all are.  It matters not who you are, terrible things sometimes happen.  Wealth, fame and status offer no immunity. Our deepest condolences to her and her family.
